Students also enroll in one additional course for three hours of credit. This course fulfills a University requirement. Students may choose from a list of course offerings in the humanities, social sciences, and general education. Classes previously offered included English composition, psychology, political science, and history.
Career exploration and individual academic advising are integrated directly into the four-week program. Students have an opportunity to interact in an informal out-of-class setting with faculty of the university. FSI housing staff provide special programming opportunities in the residence halls to help connect classroom learning.
Beyond academics, participants may take advantage of various campus recreational and cultural facilities. Students participate in a challenge course activity off campus, designed to promote self-confidence and teamwork. Students also participate in a community service project during the month.
Summer is quiet on the Lawrence campus but exciting with a rich array of activities. FSI students may attend as many such activities as time allows.
