Welcome to the University Advising Center (UAC). I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. In the fall of 2005, I joined the UAC as a half time Faculty Advisor. Before that, I enjoyed advising students at the New Student Orientation sessions for many summers. Now that I am part of the UAC, I look forward to continuing and expanding these interactions with freshman and sophomore students by exploring their academic and professional interests. I am also advising students at the junior and senior levels in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
I received my Ph. D. degree in the Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland. Before joining the faculty at KU in 1987, I was a postdoctoral scientist at the University of California at Berkeley, studying the mode of action of insect feeding inhibitors. My research interests center on the chemical and neurophysiological basis of insect-plant interactions, particularly how caterpillars taste their food and make feeding decisions. I am teaching the following classes:
My goal is to assist in fostering an environment at KU that enables all students to realize their academic and professional goals. I would like to be your guide on this challenging and exciting journey. Well-informed students are better prepared to recognize opportunities in education and life. Please, call 864-0176 to schedule an appointment.
