My name is Diann Burright, and I'm a Kansas transplant, but a Midwest native. I first taught high school
business for 4 years, and now I've been working in higher ed for over 16 years (time flies when you're having
fun!). As you can tell, education and academics have always been a driving force in my life. As an advisor,
I'm here to help you find the right path to reach your educational goals and aspirations. I'm a liaison to
the Schools of Architecture, Design & Planning; Music; and the Arts. I also serve on different committees
throughout campus. In my time at KU, I've come to find the people and resources in the UAC as second to
none--please take advantage of this great opportunity to support your college experience. We're here to
help, and all you need to do is ask!
I grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa (not far from Lake Okoboji), and have B.A. degree in Business Education
from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. I did my M.S. in Higher Education and Ph.D. in Educational
Leadership at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa (Go Cyclones!), where I also worked for 9 years in the
College of Business. My outside interests include watching football and basketball, riding my bike, playing
the flute and piano, listening to music of (almost) all kinds, shopping for shoes, and spending time with
family and friends. Fall is my favorite season and I would have 20 different cars/SUVs if I could! I've also
ridden on RAGBRAI (the bike ride across Iowa) 9 times.
I really look forward to meeting you and helping you learn more about KU, as you set off on your academic path.
