Matt Edwards

Welcome to KU! My name is Matt Edwards and I am a new academic advisor in the University Advising Center. I grew up in Davenport, Iowa and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in corporate communication from Simpson College in Indianola, IA (near Des Moines). Recently, I finished my Master of Education degree in college student affairs administration from the University of Georgia and enjoyed my two years living in Athens, GA and exploring the Southeast.

While I loved my entire undergraduate experience at Simpson, I did consider transferring at one time, and therefore have an understanding of what it is like to question the path you are taking and the struggle of trying to determine where you fit in on your journey towards a career/vocation.

On the path that brought me to Kansas, I have had many different pit stops along the way. I have spent time as a radio disc jockey, a stint as a volunteer firefighter, minor league baseball scoreboard operator, house painter, and financial aid counselor among other things.

I am a huge baseball fan and even got to attend Game 6 of the World Series in New York in 2003. Related to this, the highlight of my undergrad experience came when I was able to design my own independent study course in the history of baseball. A major part of this course involved a road trip (with 2 friends who were also enrolled in my class) to 6 baseball games in 11 days, and culminated with a visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

I encourage you to make an appointment with me by calling our Appointment Line at 864-0176. You can also email me any questions you might have at medwards@ku.edu.
