Heather Emge

Welcome to the University Advising Center!

I'm Heather Emge (pronounced like the two letters "M-G") and I'm here to help you navigate your many options at KU and to help you meet your academic goals.

While I grew up in Western Kansas (Garden City), I have called Lawrence "home" since 1998 when I entered KU as a transfer student. I initially considered pursuing degrees in Journalism and Business, but I ultimately decided to follow my love of literature and writing and majored in English. I've earned my B.A. and M.A. English degrees at KU; my concentrations were 18th and 19th century British novels and related literary theories. I have always enjoyed working with students and have taught several English courses here at KU, as well as research skills instructional sessions for the KU Libraries.

Besides reading, my outside interests include traveling to new places, spending time with family, friends and my chihuahua Isabelle, watching KU football and basketball, and shopping.

KU is truly a wonderful place to be; it has so many available resources and opportunities. I am here to help you make the best of your time at KU and to answer any questions that you may have.
