Mount Oread Scholars is a freshman-only program designed to attract and retain highly talented students. Specifically, we target students with a combined ACT of 28+ or SAT of 1240+ who graduate in the top 20% of their class. During New Student Orientation in the summer, Mount Oread Scholars attend an information meeting and a special lunch. They will have an opportunity to meet other high ability students and work with a professional or faculty advisor to determine enrollment options for fall.
How can I get into the program?
The first step is to apply for admission to the University of Kansas through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. Qualified applicants for the Mount Oread Scholars program will be identified based on the information submitted during application to KU.

In mid-spring, those eligible for the Mount Oread Scholars Program will receive applications. Students who have been accepted to the KU Honors program will not receive an application. If you return a completed application form to the University Advising Center by the date indicated on the application, you will be admitted to the Mount Oread Scholars Program.
